DAG JOHAN HAUGERUD
DREAMS
This Golden Bear winner is a literary paean to transformative, all-consuming first love
Johanne falls in love for the first time—with her teacher. When her mother and grandmother read her diary, they are initially shocked but soon see its literary potential. As they debate whether to publish it, all three women confront their differing views on sexuality and self-discovery, as well as the gap between romantic fantasy and reality.
